re: LeBron James.

Where in his contract did it stipulate that he would have to play for Cleveland for the rest of his career? Sure he helped the Cavs get famous..big deal.

In Alaska,we don't get all bitchy because our famous athletes move on to greener pastures or bigger contracts with more money..

  1. Of these athletes that play team sports, how many of them could draw a paycheck in Alaska by playing their sport? I'm guessing only the hockey players even come close, and knowing what ECHL players earn (most of them are a 50 cent cab ride from bagging groceries for a living), you can't call that making a living. It's not "leaving for greener pastures" if a pro athlete is not able to earn a living playing his/her sport of choice in Alaska. One of Alaska's greatest athletes ever, Scott Gomez, had no choice but to go to the NHL if he were to play at a level of competition worthy of his skills.

And I couldn't help noticing, after the likes of Schilling, Gomez and Schlereth, there sure is a huge drop-off in the level of talent.
